Elgato introduced two external solid-state drives in September 2012 called Thunderbolt Drive.[8] Benchmark tests by MacWorld and Tom's Hardware said that the hard drive was slower than other products they tested, despite being connected through a faster Thunderbolt port, rather than Firewire.[9][10] The following year, in 2013, Elgato replaced them with similar drives identified as "Thunderbolt Drive +", which added USB 3.0 support and was claimed to be faster than the previous iteration.[11] A CNET review of a Thunderbolt Drive+ drive gave it a 4.5 out of 5 star rating. It said the drive was "blazing fast" and "the most portable drive to date" but was also expensive.[12] An article in The Register explained that the original drives introduced in 2012 didn't perform well in benchmark tests, but the newer "plus" version had impressive speed results during testing.[13]

In fact, the decoding of the high-resolution DVB-T2 HD transmission signal and the synchronization with the sound signal stimulate the interplay of the receiver and the computer more than we and many users have already successfully tested in the pilot operations. Only if the components are coordinated and the resources are distributed effectively, the results can meet all expectations. Otherwise, there will be stuttering and shifts in the reproduction of image and sound.Very important: In order to create the prerequisites for interference-free reception of DVB-T2 HD HEVC/h.265 (1080p/50), all system requirements must be fulfilled.

CyTV is a streaming solution for elgato's EyeTV family of TV tuners ( ). It allows you to watch TV and recorded programs over a local network (wired or wireless) or the internet, and it supports many devices compatible with the EyeTV software (see -cake.net/cytv/index_en.html for a current compatibility chart). You can pause and resume live TV on the client ("timeshift"), and you can also change channels remotely.
For controlling the server, there's a rudimentary HTML interface that lets you change the current channel. To access it, go to " :8001/html" with a JavaScript-enabled browser (again substituting the server's name or address for 192.168.1.6). Here's how the page looks like (screenshot taken on a Mac, but also tested with Internet Explorer on Windows):
Thanks to elgato for producing EyeTV - it's such a nice toy! I also have a TV card in a Windows PC, and it constantly drives me crazy (not to mention the abysmal product support) ... EyeTV, however, is very nice and super easy to use.
The configuration process only takes a few minutes, but we found that the eyetv struggled to find the available Freeview stations. Eventually, after positioning our MacBook at the highest point in Stuff Towers, we finally managed to lock onto the Freeview signal.
The channels that we tuned into were served up with clarity and precision. The eyetv will also work with your Apple remote and you can connect to the tvtv EPG, which lets you set recordings remotely via a website.
In that case you could have two different boot disks. If I get the Mac Mini 2018 I'll probably boot it off an external Thunderbolt SSD. Easy enough to get two external SSDs: one for running EyeTV 3 and another for testing EyeTV 4. An advantage of that is that EyeTV 4 could be tested on newer Mac OS whilst still being able to easily switch back to booting off the drive with EyeTV 3 on it.
